We recently returned to London from SXSWedu in Austin, TX and thoroughly enjoyed participating in this dynamic, insightful conference and engaging with the extensive global EdTech community.
This year, we deepened our partnership with SXSWedu by organizing programming that showcased European All Star industry leaders and innovative startups. These two events, a Morning Mixer and Panel Discussion, featured leading European EdTech startups and executives; also providing US delegates insights into the European EdTech industry.
Morning Mixer Event
The European All Stars Morning Mixer event provided SXSWedu delegates a first-hand perspective on the European EdTech marketplace. Founders and CEOs from 10 European startups shared their unique views on creating successful EdTech companies based in UK, France, Germany, and Denmark.
Moderator Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet, the Co-Founder of EdTech Europe, presented introductions that underscored how these inventive companies illustrated the vast amount of talent within the European EdTech industry.
The ten startups highlighted various fields of innovation within EdTech, explaining how their technologies improve upon the higher-education and K-12 industries, create immersive learning environments, provide informal learning platforms, and design connected toys for kids of all ages.
SXSWedu attendees heard pitches from executives representing EdTech startups babbel, bettermarks, bibblio, Bridge U, busuu, Immerse, Labster, myblee, Primo, and sofatutor.
We were thrilled to be able to introduce these ten European EdTech innovators to the SXSWedu community and were glad that they were able to accompany us to Austin!
Industry Panel Discussion
Following the Morning Mixer breakfast event, EdTech Europe hosted an European All Stars industry leaders panel discussion that invited the CEO of TES Global Rob Grimshaw, Kelli Campbell an SVP of Discovery Education, Charles McIntyre the CEO of IBIS Capital, and the Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet the Co-Founder of EdTech Europe. These influencers participated in a hour long, engaging conversation about investment, internationalization, and innovation within the European EdTech marketplace.
To begin the panel discussion, moderator Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet offered key insights into the European EdTech market place, emphasizing the presence of 3,000 innovative EdTech startups, 110m K-12 students and 20 different curricula. As seen in the photo below, Benjamin's introductory presentation supplied facts about the current state of the European EdTech industry and provided the basis for the following discussion by the three panellists.
Moderator Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet provided the panellists with a wide variety of questions covering the role of governments in EdTech development, education investment trends in Europe, opportunities offered by the fragmented European marketplace, and predictions for the future of education technology.
We appreciate these industry leaders sharing their personal insight what they believed would be factors influencing the future of international EdTech and we're honoured to include them as part of our European All Stars.
